Kind Of Blue in Hilton Head Island is a delightful culinary gem nestled at 19 Dunnagans Alley. Patrons rave about the vibrant atmosphere and exceptional service that bring the dining experience to life. Gail Berdahl is particularly enamored with the shrimp and greens, alongside the "to die for" catfish, emphasizing the attentiveness of the staff. Live music adds to the charm, as noted by many visitors.
However, Timothy Balzen notes that a reservation is essential—dinners can fill up weeks in advance. While some dishes are priced higher than expected, the overall enjoyment of the live entertainment balances it out. The burger and sweet potato fries receive particular commendation, though he advises caution with the wings, which were reportedly overcooked.
Gary Miller's experience highlights the inclusive atmosphere, complemented by perfectly cooked ribeye. Meanwhile, the Maiorano family celebrated a "real family vibe," delighted by their "family style" dining with jambalaya, gumbo, and the standout complimentary cornbread. Even a personalized mocktail from their waitress left a lasting impression, as shared by Rory “Hippie” Covey.
In summary, Kind Of Blue is characterized by its spirited atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious Southern-inspired dishes, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area.

Best shrimp and greens I've ever had. The catfish was to die for ! Our server was constantly at our table and so attentive and really made sure we had water and anything we needed. We were lucky to see music as well. The band and Marquise were just excellent! Great place! I had so much fun.

We had a great time visiting for the first time. You need to get a reservation for dinner a few weeks in advance. We were charged 10 per person for an entertainment fee which was reasonable. The food is rather expensive for what you get. The menu has been updated with much higher prices than expected. (See the photos of the menu I added.) There also isn't as much food selection as I expected. Overall though it was a very fun evening. The burger and sweet potato fries were delicious. The wings with jerk sauce were good however they were overcooked making parts of the wings way too hard. The fried green tomatoes were very good, however I wouldn't get them again considering you only get 4 slices and it was 16. We stayed 2 hours for the live music so it was very enjoyable and would go again. Just expect to pay a little higher prices.

Amazing food, and a great atmosphere. Service slowed down a little during the amazing performances but it’s worth it and understood. Atmosphere is very inclusive for everyone of all ages, and color. Had the 14oz rib eye which was cooked perfectly but it seemed a little small, could not verify cause I did not have my scale on me but I would approximate 10oz.

This place was a real Gem!! Not knowing what to order, we ordered a lot of items & ate "family style". The owner's son is Stee, & was a runner-up on The Voice, was the live entertainment along with his sister & band mates. Their entire family is part of the business. With a real family vibe, we enjoyed jambalaya, gumbo, chicken wings & mac n cheese. The food was out of this world. The complimentary cornbread was reason enough to go back. The cocktails & service were both amazing, attentive & timely. We loved it so much we returned to get a gift card for our friends we stayed with in Hilton Head. I'm looking forward to going back on our next trip down.

This the host of some great memories made on our vacation. Our waitress was so cool, even made us a special mocktail. We had such a great night listening to the band and watching Fred cut a rug in the dance floor.

Went for dinner with our family of four. Was an absolutely fabulous night out. Dinner was good and the atmosphere was even better. Saw an incredible group play, The Sharp Five. Just a heads up that there is a 10.88 charge added to each bill or tab when the bands are performing. Overall, a 10/10 night out!

We had a wonderful night at the Kind of Blue. Good food, great service, but the highlight is the band! They are amazing, played a lot of the songs that I love, and made everybody dance. Take a look at some of the videos! When in HHI, reserve a night to enjoy the Kind of Blue!

Definitely need reservations on weekends, unless sitting at the bar.I had the Duke steak, medium well, a little tough. Spouse had the pork sirloin and it was excellent. The owner greeted us with a big southern smile and welcome. Staff was friendly and the people were all enjoying the music. The owners (husband & wife) also got up and performed, which they were awesome. It was a wonderful time and will always go back, when in town.
